Yoruba and Igbo groups have announced a peaceful separation from Nigeria, citing insecurity, corruption, and marginalization as reasons for their decision.
The Coalition for De-Amalgamation and Security (CODES) made this announcement, stating that the current Nigerian structure is unsustainable and that self-determination is the only path to lasting peace and stability.
The coalition, led by prominent figures such as Prof. Banji Akintoye and Chief Sunday Igboho, demands international recognition of Biafra and Oduduwa nations, release of detained self-determination advocates, and a UN-recognized referendum process.
They argue that Nigeria’s crisis is rooted in colonial amalgamation and post-colonial centralization, which has led to systemic corruption and marginalization of various ethnic groups.
