A violent clash between security operatives and residents of Katai and Fauda villages in Kano’s Wudil Local Government Area has left many people feared killed and properties destroyed.
The crisis started over a land dispute between villagers and a Fulani traditional leader, with villagers refusing to relinquish the land.
Security forces allegedly launched a reprisal operation, resulting in more casualties and the burning of homes, forcing many to flee.
The Chairman of Wudil LGA, Abba Muhammad Tukur, confirmed the incident, describing it as tragic, and assured residents that investigations are ongoing and justice will be served. The Kano State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
