Former Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Usman Nafada, has explained his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying he dumped the party because of what he described as “greediness.
”Nafada, who served as Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2007, said he played a major role in the PDP, including serving as the Director-General of its campaign organisation during the last election.
Speaking exclusive interview with Cabal online in Kano, the former lawmaker said his decision to leave the PDP was not because he lacked influence in the party.
According to him, “We left the party despite the fact that I am alpha and omega in the party,” stressing that he had contributed significantly to the growth and electoral fortunes of the PDP.
Nafada said he had now embraced the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was working with the party’s candidate as well as other stakeholders to strengthen the party ahead of the forthcoming election.
“We embrace our APC candidate Dr. Jamilu Gwamna, and we are also working with stakeholders in Kano to move the party forward and win the election, Insha Allah,” he declared.
He said his current political engagement was aimed at mobilising support, strengthening cooperation among stakeholders and ensuring victory for the APC, while expressing confidence that the party would achieve its electoral objectives.
