Abubakar Malami was re‑arrested by the EFCC on Monday night and told he could only walk free if he produced *two serving permanent secretaries* as sureties .
The anti‑graft agency set that condition after granting him bail earlier in the week, and sources say he was scrambling to meet it.
The case is linked to the ongoing investigation into the $322.5 million Sani Abacha loot, with the EFCC alleging he “duplicated” a recovery process that had supposedly been completed before he took office.
Malami has denied any wrongdoing, calling the accusations “fabricated” .
Once the two senior civil‑servants were secured, he will be released on condition, but the bail terms also require daily reporting to the EFCC throughout December.

Malami was recently at loggerhead with his Governor, Idris Kauran Gwandu with thugs smashed at his vehicle during convoy movement in Kebbi.
The former AGF has indicated to run for the Guber, while the incumbent stand more chance to win back his seat 2007.
