A Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of Maimuna Idris in a correctional facility over allegations that she severed her boyfriend’s manhood during a domestic dispute.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred following an argument between the couple, which reportedly escalated into violence.
The victim was rushed to a hospital for emergency medical treatment after sustaining severe injuries.
The prosecution informed the court that the offence is a serious one requiring further investigation.
The court was also told that the accused should remain in custody pending the outcome of police investigations and legal advice from the appropriate authorities.
Meanwhile, Counsel for the prosecution requested that the court remand the defendant to allow investigators conclude their work, while the defence is expected to make its application when the matter comes up for hearing.
The presiding magistrate subsequently ordered that Maimuna Idris be remanded in a correctional centre and adjourned the case to a later date for further proceedings.
The allegations remain unproven, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
