Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has sworn in 27 Special Advisers and demanded unwavering loyalty, commitment and discipline from the new appointees as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
Yusuf administered the oath of office during the 41st State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, according to a statement issued on Thursday by his Director-General of Media and Publicity, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The governor said 21 of the appointees were newly selected based on merit, professional experience and their alignment with the administration’s governance objectives, while six others were reappointed after stepping aside to pursue political ambitions.
The reappointed advisers are Gambo Sallau, Musa Ado Tsamiya, Dr Danyaro Yakasai, Usman Bala Muhammad, Danladi Karfi and Umar Musa Gama, who were returned to their previous portfolios following what the government described as their contributions to the administration.
Among the newly appointed advisers are Bello Nuhu Bello, Yahuza Adamu Yankaba, Ahmad Muhammad Aruwa, Buhari Sule Kura, Mustapha Buhari Bakwana, Aisha Tamburawa, Abdulkadir Auwalu, Alawiyya Farouk, Ibrahim Hamisu Rimi and Barrister Munir Dahiru Rimin Gado.
Addressing the appointees, Yusuf described public office as a “sacred trust” and charged them to place the interests of Kano residents above personal considerations while faithfully implementing government policies.
He specifically demanded loyalty, dedication and steadfastness from the advisers, directing them to work collectively towards the administration’s “Kano First Agenda” and support measures aimed at strengthening the state’s economy.
The governor’s emphasis on loyalty, coming with less than a year to the 2027 general elections, adds a political dimension to the appointments, particularly as some of the returning advisers had previously left their positions to pursue political ambitions.
Speaking on behalf of the new cabinet members, Engineer Abdullahi Kutama and Architect Hauwa Hassan pledged their commitment to public service and assured the governor that they would work to implement his administration’s policies and development programmes effectively.
