The Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN), under the leadership of its National President, Olabode Agboola, has officially declared the year 2026 as a pivotal period for national “Positive Transformation and Economic Development.” This declaration was central to a New Year address to the association’s nationwide membership.
In his message, President Olabode framed cybersecurity not as a niche technical field, but as a fundamental pillar of national security and economic ambition. He issued a powerful call to action, urging all cybersecurity professionals to embrace a spirit of nationalism and patriotism by fortifying the nation’s digital infrastructure.
“The cyber space challenges we face—from relentless threats against our critical national infrastructure to the theft of intellectual property—are not mere technical glitches,” stated President Agboola. “They are active hindrances stifling our economic growth, innovation, and prosperity. In 2026, we must collectively transform these challenges into opportunities.”
The press release outlined CSEAN’s vision for the year, emphasizing:
· Nationalism Through Cyber Defense: Positioning cybersecurity professionals as essential custodians of the nation’s digital future.
· Capacity Development as a Patriotic Duty: A continuous commitment to skill advancement, knowledge sharing, and building a resilient national cybersecurity workforce.
· Economic Transformation via a Secure Digital Space: Asserting that sustainable economic development is impossible without a trusted and secure digital environment for businesses and government.
“This year, we move beyond awareness to actionable resilience,” he added. “We call on every member, stakeholder, and patriotic Nigerian to recognize that securing our cyberspace is synonymous with securing our economic future. Welcome to 2026: The Year we build a safer, more prosperous Nigeria from the ground up.”
CSEAN reaffirms its commitment to leading this charge through policy advocacy, high-level training, public-private partnerships, and fostering a culture of cyber hygiene across all sectors of the Nigerian economy.
