Several villages in Niger State have been abandoned after a surge in bandit attacks.
In the Rafi, Shiroro and Munya LGAs, communities such as *Allawa, Kurebe, Kabama, Bassa, Musuku, Sabon Gida, Kawure, Palali, Mai Kanwa, Gurmana, Kabula, Gini, Kuchi, Dangunu, Mangoro, Ukale, Kachiwe and Zazzaga* have been emptied as residents fled to IDP camps.
Across the state, the figure is even higher: officials say at least *50 villages* in five local government areas are now deserted, leaving thousands displaced.
The insecurity has turned once‑bustling farming towns into ghost settlements, with reports of frequent raids, abductions and even land‑mine threats. Niger State.
In a swift reaction, the Governor of Nigeria State who visited some of affected areas to ascertain the level of the damages and attack, for further comments urges residents to go spiritual and defend themselves.
