Senator Adams Oshiomhole has slammed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), calling it a “bunch of thieves” over alleged financial mismanagement. Oshiomhole made the remarks during a Senate Committee on Public Accounts session, questioning the NNPCL’s financial submissions, which showed unaccounted funds of N210 trillion between 2017 and 2023 .
Meanwhile, speculation has emerged that Senator Godswill Akpabio’s daughter may have secured a lucrative position at NNPC through former GMD Mele Kyari. However, there’s no concrete evidence to support this claim.
The NNPC has been plagued by corruption allegations, with the EFCC investigating former top officials, including Mele Kyari, over alleged abuse of office and misappropriation of funds. The Auditor-General’s report also accused NNPC of fund misappropriation, inflated contracts, and irregular payments.
