The trial of former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and seven others has been adjourned until February 3, 2026, for hearing of all pending motions. The Kano State Government had instituted an 11-count charge against Ganduje and his wife, Hafsat Umar, bordering on bribery, conspiracy, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds running into billions of naira.
The other defendants include Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited. The prosecution, led by Jedidiah Akpata, requested an extension of time to respond to the respondents’ motion for stay of proceedings, which was granted by Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu .
The defense teams, including Lydia Oluwakemi-Oyewo, Chief M N Duru SAN, and Abdul Adamu-Fagge SAN, expressed readiness to proceed with the trial. The court has adjourned the matter multiple times on similar grounds, with the latest adjournment being until February 3, 2026 .
