Former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), has condemned the recent bandit attacks in Niger, Kebbi, and Kwara states, calling for no mercy for terrorists, their negotiators, or sympathizers. He emphasized that security agencies should confront these groups with full force, stating, “No bandits, no terrorists, no terrorists negotiators or terrorists sympathizers should be spared for disrupting the peace of Nigerians” .
The attacks have led to widespread concern, with President Bola Tinubu ordering a 24-hour security cordon around forests in Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger states to curb kidnappings and terrorist activities. The Kwara State Government has also established a cabinet-level security committee to address the situation .
In response to the attacks, Hon. Jafaru Mohammed Ali, a member of the House of Representatives, has called on the Chief of Defence Staff to mobilize military personnel to clear the Kainji National Park, which is reportedly being used as a hideout by bandits .
Similarly, Governor ago has ordered villagers to also defend themselves. While mass attack was allegedly triggered in Niger, Kebbi and Kwara which no one can tell the U-turn released of the victims whether ransom was paid or not.
