
A gruesome double‑hit in Zamfara: armed bandits killed Bukuyum LG Vice‑Chairman Mu’azu Muhammad Gwashi after receiving a ₦15 million ransom—he’d been held for over six months, with the kidnappers originally demanding ₦30 million.
The community scraped together the partial payment, but the gunmen still took him back into the forest and killed him. In a separate raid two days earlier, the same gang stormed Saran Wawa village, kidnapping five nursing mothers (each with a baby) and four others; the families have yet to hear from the abductors.
The state’s information commissioner, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, called the killing “tragic” and condoled the families .
