A devastating fire swept through the Sabuwar Lale furniture market in Kano early Sunday morning, around 2:30 a.m., gutting dozens of shops and leaving traders with losses worth millions of naira .
Eyewitnesses said the blaze started suddenly, spread quickly across the market in Tal’udu, Gwale LGA, and was only brought under control after several hours of effort by the Kano State Fire Service.
Though, bo lives were lost, but at least 11 permanent shops and about 20 temporary structures were completely burnt, wiping out furniture worth over N5 million in some stalls.
In a swift reaction, the fire service hasn’t confirmed the cause of the disaster also the magnitude of damage so far.
