
Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has signed the 2026 budget into law.
The brief ceremony was held at the council chamber of the Government House, Minna.
The total sum of the 2026 budget passed and signed was over N 1,073 trillion as opposed to more than N 1.031 trillion that was presented by the farmer governor, indicating an upward review.
In the signed 2026 budget, Capital Expenditure stands at over N 783 billion, while Recurrent Expenditure is more than N 290 billion.
Farmer governor Umaru Bago applauded the 10th State Assembly for working round the clock to ensure timely passage of the 2026 budget estimate.
He scored the 10th State Assembly 100%, saying the speed at which the leadership and members of the legislature respond to the demands of the Executive Arm of government is unprecedented, which he said is the beauty of democracy.
The farmer governor singled out the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Planning, Hajiya Aishat Teni Usman, to commend her and her team for their unwavering efforts in planning the budget.
He assured that the budget will be implemented accordingly to achieve the desired objectives.
Earlier, the Speaker of the 10th State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, commended the farmer governor and his team for coming up with a budget estimate which he described as “the best,” as it was easy for them to scrutinise and the MDAs gave them maximum cooperation in making the screening a hitch-free exercise.
He also applauded the farmer governor for his sagacity, hard work, and perseverance in providing good governance and reassured the Assembly of its continued synergy with the Executive Arm in making the state better.
