Vice President Kashim Shettima has warned Governor Uba Sani against turning Kaduna State into a one-party state, following a wave of defections from opposition parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shettima praised Sani’s leadership style, saying it has fostered trust across political and regional lines, leading to defections of prominent opposition figures, including former Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero and Senator Sunday Marshal.
The Vice President noted that Kaduna had previously been a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but Sani’s efforts have shifted the balance in favor of the APC.
Shettima commended the governor’s inclusive approach, saying it has expanded the APC’s political base across the state.
Some opposition leaders have criticized Sani’s remarks, describing them as an attempt to stifle opposition and limit democratic space.
