Northwest University Kano (NWUK) has dismissed as false and misleading a viral video claiming that the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, lacks the academic qualifications attributed to him.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Ibrahim, said the video falsely portrayed the Emir’s attendance at a public lecture organised by the International Humanitarian Law Society at the university.
The university clarified that Emir Sanusi attended the event as a special guest and said his presence had no connection with the claims made in the viral video.
It described the allegations as baseless and urged the public to disregard them.
NWUK also urged journalists and social media users to verify information before sharing it, reaffirming its commitment to truth, academic integrity and the fight against misinformation.
In a similar development, the Progressive Northern Media Professionals, has also released statements described the legitimate of the report as baseless and also tarnishing the image of the Emir of Kano Sanusi.
