The Sokoto State Government has approved ₦1 billion for the 2026 Ramadan feeding programme, aiming to provide 34,000 meals daily to vulnerable residents. Ex-Governor Wammakko initiated the program during his administration to carter for less privileges during the fasting month. He also give out Sallah stipend to enable less privileges cerebrate eid- fitir.
However, the programme will operate across 170 feeding centres, up from 155 last year, with each centre serving about 200 beneficiaries.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu flagged off the programme, emphasizing its importance in easing the burden on fasting Muslims and promoting compassion and unity.
With the development, the program is expected to last for 29-to-30 days when the fasting will end.
