Senator Rufai Sani Hanga, representing Kano Central Senatorial District, is facing a one-count charge before a Sharia Court for allegedly failing to pay campaign funds amounting to N124,800,070.
The lawsuit was filed by Isa Ado Medoya and several others, who claim they performed agreed-upon campaign tasks during the 2023 general elections but haven’t received payment.
The Upper Sharia Court in Shahuci, Kano, presided over by Judge Muhammad Sani, has begun hearing the case.
The plaintiffs’ counsel, Barrister Abbas Sani Abubakar Mandawari, presented documents and evidence to support their claim.
However, the defendant’s counsel opposed the request for more time to consolidate filings, arguing that the plaintiffs were unprepared to proceed with substantive arguments.
The court has adjourned the matter to April 21, 2026, for the plaintiffs to submit complete documentation.
Senator Hanga, the NNPP associates of Kwankwaso also a bonafide member of kwankwassiyya movement.
