The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sealed off the Abuja residence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, where Nana Hadiza Buhari, daughter of late former President Muhammadu Buhari and Malami’s third wife, is reportedly residing.
This move is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption, money laundering, and terrorism financing involving Malami.
Malami’s camp claims the EFCC’s action is unlawful and politically driven, stating that the anti-graft agency failed to present a valid court order authorizing the takeover.
The EFCC, however, argues it has the right to mark properties under forfeiture proceedings.
The dispute centers around an interim forfeiture order granted by a Federal High Court in January, which Malami has challenged.
The court had directed the EFCC to publish the order and allow interested parties to show cause why the properties should not be permanently forfeited.
