The daughter of former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Fatima Abdullahi Ganduje, has been sighted holidaying in Greece with her husband, Idris Ajimobi, the son of late former Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
Pictures and video clips from the trip, which surfaced online on Saturday, showed the couple at different tourist locations in the Mediterranean country. The images quickly drew attention across social media platforms in Nigeria, with many commenters noting the union of two prominent political families from the North and South-West.
Fatima is one of the children of Dr. Ganduje, who served as Kano State Governor from 2015 to 2023. Her husband, Idris, is a son of the late Senator Ajimobi, who governed Oyo State between 2011 and 2019. The marriage between the two families in 2022 was widely reported as a symbolic bridge between Kano and Ibadan political circles.
According to details shared by Hausa Daily Time, the couple were in Greece for leisure and tourism. While the exact duration of their stay was not disclosed, the photos showed them dressed casually and visiting historic sites popular with international tourists.
The appearance together has renewed public interest in the Ganduje-Ajimobi alliance, which many political observers described at the time of their wedding as a union that cut across regional and party lines. Both families remain influential in the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Dr. Ganduje currently serves as the National Chairman of the APC, a position he assumed in 2023. The late Senator Ajimobi was until his death in 2020 a respected voice in the party and served briefly as Acting National Chairman of the APC.
Reactions to the holiday photos have been largely congratulatory, with many Nigerians on Facebook and X wishing the couple well. Some users also used the moment to reflect on the legacies of both former governors and their contributions to politics in their respective states.
