President Bola Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, leading to the exit of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun, and Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa. The changes aim to strengthen cohesion and improve economic policy delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda. ¹ ² ³
Edun, who had served as Finance Minister since August 2023, will be replaced by Taiwo Oyedele, previously Minister of State in the ministry. Dangiwa, on the other hand, will be succeeded by Muttaqha Rabe Darma as the new Minister of Housing and Urban Development.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, explained that the reshuffle is intended to enhance governance synergy and drive impactful economic outcomes. The President has thanked the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them well in their future endeavors.
All handing over and taking over processes are expected to be completed by April 23, 2026. The President has assured cabinet members that the process of reinvigorating the government will be continuous. ⁴
