KANO, Nigeria – Parents have been called upon to prioritize their children’s upbringing to stem the tide of youth disobedience and moral decay threatening societal stability. Malam Aminu Jibril, Chief Imam of Qudus Juma’at Mosque, Kano State, emphasized this during his sermon on “Obedience to Parents”.
Malam Aminu expressed concern over the reversal of roles in modern homes, where children no longer obey their parents. He linked this to larger security and social crises, noting that most youths involved in social vices are those who don’t respect their parents.
The Imam cited Prophet Muhammad’s teachings on the signs of the end times, including children disobeying parents. He stressed that obedience to parents is a path to Paradise, especially when they reach old age.
Congregants echoed the Imam’s concerns, agreeing that changes must start at home. Abdurrazak Abdulhadi blamed parents for failing to guide their children, while Sulaiman Ayuba saw the sermon as a wake-up call to action.
The message highlights the importance of parental guidance in shaping responsible citizens. With many youths involved in social vices, the call to action is timely.
Proper upbringing and moral guidance can yield obedient and responsible youths. The community is looking to parents to take up this responsibility.
The sermon serves as a reminder of the critical role parents play in shaping society. It’s a call to action for all to prioritize children’s upbringing and moral guidance.
