The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved compensation for eligible Band A customers who received inadequate electricity supply between February and March 2026. Band A customers are entitled to around 20 hours of electricity daily, but some faced shortages due to generation issues, gas supply problems, and infrastructure vandalism.
Here’s the compensation breakdown:
- 18-20 hours of supply: Standard compensation applies
- Less than 18 hours: 20% of energy costs will be credited
Compensation will be given as token credit for prepaid customers and bill adjustments for postpaid customers. Affected feeders won’t be downgraded, and customers must be informed about the compensation. Payments for February and March are due by May 31, 2026, and June 30, 2026, respectively.
