Audu Manager, a prominent oil marketer and real estate businessman from Kano, has passed away at the age of 68. He was a notable figure in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector, owning a network of filling stations across the country.
Audu Manager, whose real name is Alhaji Abdullahi Ahmad, built his business empire from humble beginnings. He started as a young trader selling ice blocks, groundnut oil, and other local goods before venturing into the oil business in 1996.
His company, A.A. Rano Nigeria Limited, has grown into one of the country’s recognizable independent operators in the petroleum sector. The company operates over 600 trucks and about 200 retail outlets across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Audu Manager’s business style was characterized by his ability to blend technology with fuel retailing. He introduced Nigeria’s first fully automated, unmanned fuel stations, allowing motorists to self-refuel 24/7 through digital controls and remote monitoring .
His entrepreneurial spirit and innovative approach to business earned him recognition as a leader in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. He was also involved in various philanthropic activities, supporting education, healthcare, and youth-focused initiatives across Nigeria through the A.A. Rano Foundation ³.
