
*KANO, 16th June 2026* – The Media Team of Jamilu Gwamna has extended heartfelt felicitations to the Muslim Ummah on the commencement of the new Islamic calendar year, 1448 After Hijrah.
In a statement signed by his Media Aide, Mahmoud Muhammad, and made available to newsmen in Kano, the team described the Islamic New Year as a sacred moment for reflection, gratitude, and spiritual renewal.
The statement noted that the Hijrah marks more than a change of date, it represents sacrifice, perseverance, and unwavering trust in Allah’s guidance, values that remain relevant to Nigeria today.
According to the Media Aide, Jamilu Gwamna joins millions of Muslims across Kano State, Northern Nigeria and the world in welcoming the new Hijri year with hope and optimism.
He called on the Muslim Ummah to use the blessed month of Al-Muharram to offer special prayers for lasting peace, unity and stability in Kano State and the nation at large.
The statement also urged Muslims to remember the nation’s leaders, security personnel, and farmers in their supplications, especially as the rainy season intensifies across the region.
Mahmoud Muhammad, who is onetime Leadership Regional Editor, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara State, emphasized that the new Islamic year provides an opportunity for personal assessment and community rebuilding, encouraging citizens to embrace tolerance, compassion and mutual respect.
The Media Team highlighted Jamilu Gwamna’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote religious harmony and peaceful coexistence among all ethnic and faith groups in Kano and beyond.
It further prayed for abundant rainfall and a bountiful farming season, expressing optimism that 1448 AH would bring improved livelihoods for farmers and traders.
