Kebbi State Government has raised an alarm over a new terror group called “Sai Malam” operating in the state. The group’s activities include conducting blood sacrifices among its members, and they’ve been spotted in areas like Zuru and Argungu.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security and Home Affairs, Col. Hassan Riba (retd), disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting with the Inspector-General of Police, urging security agencies to take decisive action against the group.
The Inspector-General of Police has directed security agencies to profile the group and strengthen security around waterways and riverine communities to block smuggling of weapons.
The state government has also deployed Mobile Police personnel to Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area to curb bandit infiltration.
Residents are living in fear as the group’s activities have created a sense of insecurity in the state.
The government is working closely with security agencies to tackle the threat and restore peace to the affected communities.
Efforts are underway to gather more intelligence on the group’s operations and neutralize their activities.
