Thousands of followers of the Tijjaniyya Movement, under the Tijjaniyya Grassroots Mobilisation and Empowerment Initiative of Nigeria, have expressed their support and pledged continued cooperation with the Kebbi State Governor, His Excellency Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, towards the success of his administration and the forthcoming general election.
The endorsement was made on Sunday when members of the movement converged at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, to celebrate the annual Maulud An-Nabiyy.
Speaking at the event, the Senior Special Assistant to the Kebbi State Governor on Religious Affairs, Faruq Umar Ambursa, said the group’s support was informed by the achievements recorded by the present administration.
He noted that Governor Nasir Idris had made significant strides in infrastructure and other developmental sectors, while also implementing various human empowerment programmes aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Tijjaniyya Grassroots Empowerment and Mobilisation Movement of Nigeria, Nazifi Nyass, commended Governor Nasir Idris for his support for religious leaders and communities across the state.
He described the Governor as a leader with a clear mission and vision, noting that his administration had demonstrated fairness and inclusiveness in its dealings with religious stakeholders.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Power and Politics, Kabir Sani Giant, expressed appreciation to the Tijjaniyya followers for their massive turnout, describing the gathering as a clear demonstration of the Governor’s strong connection with the people.
Responding, Governor Nasir Idris urged the gathering to use the occasion of the Maulud celebration to reflect on and emulate the teachings, character, and noble example of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in their words and deeds.
The Governor commended the participants for demonstrating their love for the Noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and called on adherents of the Tijjaniyya order to sustain prayers for peace, security, stability, and the continued success of Kebbi State.
He further commended the group for using religious activities to promote good values and strengthen the moral fabric of society, stressing the importance of prayers in seeking positive transformation and lasting peace.
“My administration will sustain its support for religious leaders and organisations in carrying out the onerous task of entrenching good virtues and moral values into the fabric of our society,” the Governor said.
As part of his support for the association and its activities, Governor Nasir Idris donated N50 million to the organisation.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, unity, moral values, religious harmony, and the overall development of Kebbi State.
