Dawakin Kudu Assembly By-ElectionKANO — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, September 19, 2026, for the conduct of the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency by-election in the Kano State House of Assembly.
INEC announced the date on Friday, saying the poll would be conducted alongside elections in four other vacant legislative constituencies across Gombe, Bauchi and Delta states.
Voting is scheduled to take place at designated polling units from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The Dawakin Kudu seat became vacant following the election of its former occupant, Rabiu Shuaibu, to the House of Representatives. Shuaibu won the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by-election conducted in June 2026 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The federal seat had become vacant following the death of former lawmaker Muhammad Danjuma-Hassan, while Shuaibu’s movement to the National Assembly created the vacancy that necessitated the state constituency by-election.
INEC said preparations for the five constituencies were ongoing, including the electronic submission of polling agents’ details and accreditation of election observers.
The commission expressed its commitment to ensuring that the September 19 polls are conducted smoothly across the affected constituencies.
