Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, says more than 380 suspects have been arrested while over 230 convictions have been secured in the first two months of the state’s intensified campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
The Governor disclosed this while reviewing the progress of the ongoing war against drug abuse, noting that the campaign has yielded significant results within a short period.
According to him, the crackdown is part of deliberate efforts to rid the state of drug peddlers and curb the rising menace of substance abuse among youths.
He said the convictions were secured through collaboration with relevant security agencies and the judiciary to ensure swift prosecution of offenders.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustain the campaign and protect Kano from the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking.
