Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on northern-based professionals in the creative industry to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Shettima made the call on Wednesday while receiving a delegation of Northern Performing Artists under the auspices of Triple-R For Renewed Hope at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign office in Abuja.
The Vice President said Tinubu deserves the collective support of the North in the interest of fairness and national unity, while assuring northern artists, filmmakers and musicians that the administration would continue to support the growth of the creative industry.
Shettima said the government’s creative-economy initiatives were designed to empower local talent, preserve cultural heritage and create economic opportunities.
He also urged the artists to remain committed to the administration and the APC, saying the benefits of its policies and reforms would continue to emerge across different sectors.
Earlier, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, said Tinubu’s re-election campaign would be based on the administration’s record and achievements. He also rejected claims that the North had been excluded from federal appointments and projects.
Former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari thanked the creative professionals for pledging support for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
The President of Triple-R For Renewed Hope, Dauda Kahutu Rarara, subsequently pledged the group’s support for Tinubu’s re-election and APC candidates across the North, while the group called for greater government support for northern creative professionals, including infrastructure and welfare measures.
The meeting forms part of the political mobilisation taking place ahead of the 2027 elections.
