The Kebbi State House of Assembly has expressed heartfelt commendations to security agencies and the state government, following the successful rescue of the Deputy Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo from the captivity of unknown gunmen. The incident, which occurred on Friday, 31st of October, 2025, had raised concerns among families, constituents and colleagues of the abductee.
In a press statement signed by the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Usman Zuru, (Lifiddan Zuru) and made available to newsmen on Sunday, the Assembly members lauded the quick response and strategic efforts of the security agencies through the support of the state government who worked in concert to ensure his safe return. The Deputy Speaker was abducted at Bagudo town on his way to mosque, prompting an immediate and vigorous search operation by security personnel.
The Speaker, highlighted the professional expertise exhibited by the security agencies and commended the collaborative spirit that led to the successful and swift operation. “This remarkable achievement is a testament to the dedication and resilience of our security forces. We commend their fearlessness and the efficient coordination with the state government,” the speaker stated.
While emphasizing the need for continuous support to security forces in the state to enhance their capabilities in combating the rising insecurity, the lawmakers reiterated their commitment to working alongside the state government to create a safety environment and security for all residents of the state.
The speaker further expressed appreciation to the general public for their fervent prayers during this difficult time, which significantly assist the security personnel in their rescue operations.
The successful rescue of the Deputy Speaker has brought a measure of relief to his families, constituents, colleagues, as well as the general public, expressing their appreciation for the efforts of security agencies and hope that, similar incident can be avoided in the future.
