Lieutenant A.M. Yarima, the Nigerian Navy officer who recently clashed with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, was allegedly targeted in an assassination attempt at a NIPCO fuel station in Abuja. Around 6:30 p.m.,
Yarima was trailed by unidentified men in two unmarked Hilux vans without number plates, who followed him from the fuel station to Gado Nasco Way.
Fortunately, he noticed the surveillance and executed a strategic maneuver to evade the suspected attackers.
The incident is under investigation, and authorities are treating it with the seriousness it deserves.
This attempt comes days after Yarima’s confrontation with Wike over a disputed land site, which sparked nationwide debate and led to the Presidency halting the demolition exercise.
Military veterans have rallied behind Yarima, condemning Wike’s verbal outburst and warning against any disciplinary action against the officer.
The Defence Minister Mohammad Badaru Abubakar has assured that no military personnel acting lawfully will be sanctioned.
