The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled several prominent members, including Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Ayo Fayose, former Ekiti State Governor, and Samuel Anyanwu, the party’s National Secretary, over alleged anti-party activities.
The decision was made during the party’s National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, with a motion moved by Chief Bode George and seconded by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed .
Other expelled members include:
- Kamaldeen Ajibade, the party’s National Legal Adviser
- Umar Bature, National Organising Secretary
- Mao Ohuabunwa, former lawmaker
- George Turner, PDP South-South Zonal Secretary
- Dan Orbih, former Edo State Governor
- Austin Nwachukwu, Imo PDP Chairman
- Abraham Ammah, Abia PDP Chairman
- The expulsion has sparked controversy, with some governors, including Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State and Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, distancing themselves from the decision. Wike’s aide described the expulsion as “Detty December in November”, implying it’s a premature and unserious move .
