Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, is questioning the withdrawal of military personnel from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, just minutes before bandits attacked and abducted 25 schoolgirls.
The governor received intelligence about a possible attack and convened a security meeting, but the military withdrew around 3 am, and the bandits struck at 3:45 am.
Governor Idris is demanding answers, asking, “Who authorized the military to withdraw? How did security personnel pull out at such a critical time?” The Defence Headquarters has launched an investigation into the incident, and soldiers involved are being interrogated .
The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, assured that the military didn’t order the withdrawal and that those responsible will face court martial if found guilty. The governor and federal government are working to secure the safe return of the abducted girls. Already, 50 abducted students of St. Mary have been released from CAPTIVITY and that of KWARA Church 38 also regained freedom.
