Kano State stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress have purchased the expression of interest and nomination forms for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, endorsing him as the party’s sole governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Kano on Thursday. The meeting noted the absence of Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and several other prominent party figures, but those present unanimously reaffirmed confidence in Governor Yusuf’s leadership and performance.
Immediate past APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, presented the forms on behalf of the stakeholders. He said the move was to actualize the collective decision to adopt the governor as the consensus candidate.
“We have already agreed that you are our sole governorship candidate and in order to actualise that promise, I hereby hand over these two important forms to you, the expression of interest form and the nomination form, to be duly completed and submitted,” Ganduje stated.
The stakeholders said the purchase of the forms reflects their resolve to sustain unity within the party and to consolidate the developmental strides recorded under the present administration.
They added that the consensus arrangement is aimed at ensuring stability, cohesion, and a seamless electoral process ahead of the 2027 polls.
Governor Yusuf thanked the stakeholders for the gesture and restated his commitment to inclusive governance, people-oriented policies, and the continued development of Kano State.
The Kano State Government commended the stakeholders for their show of confidence and unwavering support, urging all party members to remain united in advancing the progress and prosperity of the state.
The meeting ended with a communiqué signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad, while party officials said further consultations would continue to bring all members on board before the primaries.
