Bandits have attacked communities in Kano State’s Tsanyawa Local Government Area, abducting women and men in a series of night raids.
The attacks occurred in villages including ‘Yan Chibi, Masaurari, and Birisawa, leaving residents living in fear. In Masaurari area of ‘Yan Kamaye village, eight women and two men were abducted. The bandits, believed to have entered Tsanyawa through routes linking ‘Yan Chibi to ‘Yar Gajam in Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, have spread into surrounding Kano communities.
The communities lie along the Katsina-Kano border, a corridor frequently exploited by armed groups. Security agencies have been alerted, but authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the latest attacks. Residents are calling for increased security measures to address the rising insecurity in the area .
In a similar incident, bandits abducted five nursing mothers in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, violently separating them from their newborn babies.
The police have arrested two suspected bandits behind attacks on Shanono communities, and efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the syndicate .
