The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced the revocation of 1,095 property titles within Abuja’s upscale districts, including Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse, citing failure to pay statutory land charges. According to the notice, 835 of the properties defaulted on ground rent payments, while another 260 owed outstanding violation fees or land‑use conversion charges.

In a public notice signed by FCTA management, the agency declared that enforcement actions, including repossession or other measures, will begin now that a final 14‑day grace period, which ended on November 25, 2025, has expired. This signals immediate implementation of the revocations unless outstanding payments are resolved.
High‑profile former public officials appear among those affected. The list includes Abdullahi Ganduje, former governor of Kano; Donald Duke, former Cross River governor; Patience Jonathan, wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan; David Mark, ex‑Senate President; and Iyiola Omisore, former deputy governor of Osun, among others. Their inclusion underscores the broad scope of the FCTA’s enforcement measures.
The revocations mark a significant escalation in the FCTA’s efforts to enforce land‑use compliance in Nigeria’s capital, showing that even high‑profile individuals are not exempt. With enforcement underway, affected property holders now face a narrowed window to settle outstanding dues or risk losing their land titles.
