Former Governor Abdulazeez Yari was turbaned as *Obaloyin of Yorubaland*, symbolising love, compassion and justice, while President Tinubu’s son Seyi Tinubu received the *Okanlomo of Yorubaland* title, representing custodianship of Yoruba values and cultural heritage.
Both titles carry responsibilities to promote Yoruba culture, advise the Alaafin, and support education and social welfare.

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, has Sunday weekend confer two high‑profile chieftaincy titles: *Obaloyin of Yorubaland* on former Zamfara governor Abubakar Yari and *Okanlomo of Yorubaland* on President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.

– *Obaloyin of Yorubaland* – symbolises love, compassion, justice and a bridge between the physical and spiritual realms; the holder is expected to promote Yoruba culture, advise the Alaafin, foster unity and support education and social‑welfare projects.
– *Okanlomo of Yorubaland* – translates to “the beloved child” or “one dear to the hearts of the Yoruba”; it casts the bearer as a custodian of Yoruba values, unity and cultural heritage, with similar duties of cultural promotion, advisory role and community development.
