
Kano State Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers and cattle rustlers in Kiru and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas of the State.
The command confirmed in a statement signed by Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, that the arrests were made on December 14, 2025, following intelligence-led operations.
Officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Squad cordoned off Rahma Round in Kiru LGA, detaining four suspects, including 25-year-old Shafiu Ibrahim from Auchanawa Village, Ikara LGA, Kaduna State. Shafiu admitted involvement in a kidnapping gang and multiple cattle rustling incidents.
Authorities also recovered a TVS motorcycle, while the other three suspects are being investigated for various offences.
In a related operation, a joint team from the Dragon Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, and Tsanyawa Police Division arrested 24-year-old Bishir Umar of Karaduwa LGA, Katsina State, in Mahuta Village, Tsanyawa LGA.
Bishir reportedly confessed to taking part in an armed attack in Kano, in which accomplices escaped with motorcycles and a rifle.
The police stated that all suspects will be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
