Senator Aliyu Wammakko, representing Sokoto Central, has rolled out a solar‑powered street‑light project covering eight local government areas .
Among areas drawn for the projects included :Sokoto North, Sokoto South, Silame, Binji, Kware, Gudu, Tangaza and Wammakko – to boost nighttime vigilance and cut crime.
The initiative, was overseen by legislative aide Aminu Dalhatu, aims to protect communities hit hard by bandit attacks, improve business activity in the Sokoto metropolis, and is slated for completion before next year.
Ex-governor Wammakko has also been pushing solar streetlights across the state to curb night marauders and support security efforts .
