President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the arrest and investigation of five officials of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster management and social development suspected to be involved in alleged fraud.
According to reports, the suspects were alleged to have ignored the order of the President to pay -Pallative allowances to beneficiaries since last year, instead they allegedly stole the funds running into billions of naira.
THE NORTH STAR ONLINE gathered that the suspects all of them from the Ministry have been detained on the order of the President, who gave a marching order to the investigators to report back quickly, and if there’s any case established during the investigation should be charged to court.
The alleged crime was blown open when a staff who saw the approval by the President for quick payment of the arrears of the money to beneficiaries raised the issue.
The fund which the source cannot exactly say the amount of the money involved said the President approved the money late 2025, and ordered to be paid immediately, the men now in custody violated the order and allegedly diverted the money to their personal use.
Earlier in 2023, 2024, officials of the Ministry including the the Minister Sadia Faruk and others were indicted over an alleged fraudulent acts involving billions of naira. The case is still before a competent court of justice.
The Police spokesperson Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, CSP Benjamin Hundenyi could not be reached as at the time of the reports. A message sent to him on his cellphone was not responded to and calls made not picked.
