Gov. Abba K. Yusuf of Kano State has concluded arrangements reportedly set a new timeline for his defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to a closed‑door meeting with members of the Kano State House of Assembly, he plans to resign from the NNPP on Saturday, publicly declare his move to the APC on Sunday, and pick up his APC membership card on Monday.
He also mentioned negotiating a 60 percent stake with the party’s national headquarters and forming a committee to work out how he’ll secure a majority share in the upcoming congress.
Meanwhile, his political godfather, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has reportedly decided not to join the APC, as talks of an alliance with former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi have reached an advanced stage.
Similarly, A committee will soon be Inaugurated to work out the details of securing a majority stake in the upcoming APC Congress and the Governor said he has already negotiated a 60 percent share with the party’s nation leadership.
