Kano APC Launches E-Registration, Reserves Membership Card ‘001’ for Governor Abba Kabir..
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has officially launched its electronic membership registration (e-registration) across the 44 Local Government Areas, with a bold political statement: the number one spot is reserved for the Governor.
The party confirmed on Thursday, January 22, 2026, that it has set aside membership card No. 001 specifically for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, signaling heightened expectations of his defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

“We Are Waiting for Him”
Speaking to journalists in Kano, the State APC Publicity Secretary, Ahmad Aruwa, revealed that the party intentionally delayed the commencement of the registration process to allow the Governor to join the fold in a “proper and organized manner.”
“We are expecting the Governor to join the party very soon. We have already prepared his membership card with number 001 in his ward,” Aruwa stated.
The party has now deployed over 1,500 ad-hoc staff to facilitate the e-registration process in all wards across the state, urging all interested citizens to participate.
The move follows reports from the state party chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, who suggested that the Governor might pick up his membership card as early as next week Tuesday or Wednesday.
According to Abbas, this development follows a high-profile meeting in Abuja between Governor Yusuf, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
However, despite the APC’s open arms and the “001” card reservation, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has yet to officially announce his exit from the NNPP or confirm the date for any planned defection.
Political analysts view the APC’s public reservation of the card as a strategic move to mount pressure on the Governor following his recent interactions with the Presidency.
E-Registration Oversight
To ensure a smooth exercise, the APC has inaugurated a 14-member committee to oversee the digital registration process. The party hierarchy emphasized that the portal is now live and accessible to all supporters across the state’s 44 LGAs.
