The state house is currently in “high-readiness mode” for the formal reception of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who is expected to announce his official move to the ruling party this afternoon.

The Return of the “Grand Master”

Adding weight to today’s ceremony is the arrival of the former APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Ganduje, who returned to Nigeria from London via Abuja early Monday morning, is already in Kano to personally receive the Governor.

The presence of Ganduje, the Governor’s predecessor and once-fierce political rival, underscores a massive reconciliation effort aimed at consolidating the APC’s grip on Nigeria’s most populous northern state.

Launch of E-Registration: In a strategic move to digitize the party’s base, the Governor will flag off the APC e-registration exercise for Kano State.
“The prevailing realities of governance, national cohesion and development necessitated this return,” a statement from the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, noted ahead of the event. “The APC remains a familiar and structured platform for progressive governance.”

A Massive Realignment

Governor Yusuf is not moving alone. He is leading a wave that includes 22 members of the State House of Assembly, 8 members of the House of Representatives, and all 44 Local Government Chairmen in the state.
