A former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed his willingness to reconcile with his erstwhile boss and political rival, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Mr Ganduje disclosed this during an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Wednesday.
“I am hoping that very soon we will reconcile with Kwankwaso so that we can move forward together. We have been in the same political camp in the past, and we are still brothers,” he said.
According to him, his current focus is the progress of Kano State and ensuring the victory of the APC.
Mr Ganduje added that the present political realignment in the state has put an end to politics of rivalry.
“With the current realignment, there is no longer politics of rivalry in Kano. Our focus is on delivering good governance to the people.
“If Abba succeeds, we all succeed; and if we succeed, he also succeeds. It is better for all of us to understand this so that the government can succeed,” he said.
The former APC chairman further stated that his experience in party leadership has given him a deep understanding of the party’s internal workings and conflict resolution mechanisms.
On whether Governor Abba Yusuf would be granted an automatic ticket, Mr Ganduje said he understands party rules and traditions.
“I understand the workings of the party. There are rules, and there are traditions. The tradition of the party is that a sitting governor is given the right of first refusal, but this does not apply to other positions,” he said.
