Ahmad Rabiu, a key figure in the multi-billion naira Dala Inland Dry Port ownership dispute involving former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, was arrested at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Abuja.
Rabiu, a former Managing Director of the dry port, was arrested by plainclothes officers of the Kano State Police Command.
The arrest comes after Rabiu alleged threats to his life over his decision to testify in the case.
The Kano State Government had filed a 10-count charge against Ganduje and several co-defendants, alleging criminal conspiracy, misappropriation of public funds, breach of trust, and conflict of interest.
The prosecution alleges that over ₦4.49 billion in Kano State funds was diverted to finance infrastructure projects at the dry port, including a double-carriageway, electricity installations, and perimeter fencing, for personal and family benefit.
Rabiu’s arrest has sparked renewed interest in the case, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the allegations.
