Senator Adamu Aliero has officially retained the All Progressives Congress, APC, ticket for Kebbi Central Senatorial District after emerging unopposed in the party’s primary election held on May 20, 2026.
The Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee for Kebbi Central, Comrade Garba Muhammad, announced the result, describing the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and fully compliant with party guidelines and electoral laws.“Having fulfilled all the requirements of the law and APC regulations, I hereby declare Senator Adamu Aliero as the APC flag bearer for Kebbi Central Senatorial District,” Comrade Muhammad declared before party delegates and stakeholders.
“Having fulfilled all the requirements of the law and APC regulations, I hereby declare Senator Adamu Aliero as the APC flag bearer for Kebbi Central Senatorial District,” Comrade Muhammad declared before party delegates and stakeholders.
The path to Aliero’s unopposed victory was cleared when his lone challenger, Alhaji Kabiru Giant, formally withdrew from the race through a letter submitted to the party, according to State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru.
Speaking after the declaration, Senator Aliero thanked Almighty Allah for the opportunity to serve again and expressed deep appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris for fostering reconciliation among aspirants within the state chapter.
He pledged to deliver quality representation to the people of Kebbi Central and called on all party members to unite behind winners across the state to guarantee a sweeping victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
“Our cooperation and unity are critical to the success of the APC at all levels in the 2027 general elections,” Aliero said, urging aspirants who stepped down to remain active stakeholders in the party’s campaign structure.
Governor Nasir Idris, who witnessed the primary, commended the people of Kebbi State for their continued confidence in his administration and thanked Allah for the smooth conduct of the exercise.
The governor lauded the APC reconciliation committee chaired by Ambassador Saidu Usman Nasamu for persuading other aspirants to withdraw in the interest of party cohesion, describing the effort as “remarkable.”
He specifically thanked Kabiru Giant for stepping down unconditionally for Senator Aliero in Kebbi Central, noting similar sacrifices in Kebbi North where Dr. Hussaini Kangiwa stepped down for Senator Yahaya Abubakar-Abdullahi.
In Kebbi South, Governor Idris added, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah also stepped down for Ja’afar Muhammad Gajere, a trend he said demonstrates that party unity now supersedes personal ambition in Kebbi APC.
“I thank all of them for placing the unity of the party above personal interest. This demonstrates that, by the grace of God, we will secure victory in all elective positions in 2027,” the governor stated.
Governor Idris reaffirmed his commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, stressing that Kebbi State has benefited from numerous federal projects and programmes under the current administration.
With primaries concluded across the three senatorial districts without rancor, APC stakeholders say the party in Kebbi has sent a strong signal of readiness and internal democracy as it prepares for the 2027 polls.
