The Kano State Government has announced the closure of all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state to mark the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir festival.
In a statement issued by the State Ministry of Education, the closure will take effect from Friday, 23rd May 2026, to allow students and staff to participate fully in the religious festivities.
The Commissioner for Education directed all school heads to ensure that academic activities are suspended within the stated period and to communicate the directive to parents and guardians promptly.
The statement added that schools are expected to resume normal academic activities on Wednesday, 28th May 2026, after the Sallah holidays.
Parents and guardians were urged to use the period to monitor their wards and ensure they observe the lessons of sacrifice, obedience, and charity associated with Eid-el-Kabir.
The Ministry also called on school proprietors to comply fully with the directive, warning that any institution found violating the order would face sanctions.
The government wished all Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration and prayed for continued peace in Kano State and Nigeria at large.
