Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy, has explained that his past criticisms of the president’s administration were due to his previous role in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Bwala made this disclosure during an interview on Arise TV’s The Morning Show.
Bwala had previously accused Tinubu of rigging the election and questioned his moral legitimacy, describing him as a “president-select” rather than a “president-elect”. However, he stated that his views changed after meeting the president and being appointed as a special adviser.
The controversy surrounds Tinubu’s campaign promise of providing uninterrupted electricity within four years. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized Tinubu for failing to fulfill this promise, citing a 240% increase in electricity tariffs and 12 grid collapses since he took office.
Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to improving Nigeria’s electricity supply through the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI) with Siemens Energy. The initiative aims to increase transmission capacity and stabilize the grid.
Bwala’s clarification comes amid ongoing debates about Tinubu’s performance and the challenges facing Nigeria’s power sector. Would you like to know more about the PPI or Tinubu’s energy policies?
