The Media Team of Dr. Jamilu Gwamna, Sardaunan Gombe, commends Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami for his statesmanlike withdrawal from the APC gubernatorial race following the consensus endorsement of Dr. Jamilu Gwamna by Gombe elders and critical stakeholders.
In a statement released via the official Facebook account of Mahmoud Muhammad, the Media Team described the former Minister and respected cleric as “gentle and straightforward,” noting that his decision upholds the values of respect, dialogue, and unity that Gombe politics is known for.
It would be recalled that in recent weeks, various voices across TikTok and other social platforms appealed to Prof. Pantami to reconsider his position and withdraw from what had become a needless confrontation over Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s call to halt premature primaries.
We are pleased that Prof. Pantami listened to the voice of reason and the counsel of elders. His withdrawal is a demonstration of maturity and a clear message that the interest of Gombe State supersedes personal ambition.
The Media Team equally commends His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his steadfastness, bold steps, and commitment to party discipline throughout the process.
The Governor’s address urging a halt to rushed primaries was not an attempt to stifle democracy but a strategic move to ensure that the APC approaches 2027 with unity, order, and a clear succession plan rooted in consultation.
With the guidance of respected elders and stakeholders, that approach has now produced a consensus around Dr. Jamilu Gwamna as the preferred candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial race.
We therefore use this medium to thank all elders, community leaders, youth groups, and women leaders who intervened to ensure that dialogue triumphed over discord. Your role in stabilizing the polity cannot be overstated.

Gwamna’s history of honouring the request of elders, including his decision to go on exile to Kaduna years ago when asked, remains a reference point for humility and discipline in leadership.
Having secured consensus on the gubernatorial direction, the Media Team of Dr. Jamilu Gwamna hereby declares full support for Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s bid for the Gombe Central Senatorial District seat in 2027.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya has transformed Gombe through prudent management, infrastructure renewal, health sector reforms, and educational expansion. His experience is needed in the National Assembly to attract federal presence and consolidate the gains recorded at state level.
We believe that a synergy between Governor Inuwa Yahaya in the Senate and Dr. Jamilu Gwamna in the Government House will provide Gombe with stability, continuity, and accelerated development from 2027.
